The Solutions4Sustainability CCUS Project is a large-scale demonstration project, and is already supported by several industrial partners.

Enevi: Enevi is the project's main partner and the project implementation site. Enevi is a waste-to-energy plant located in Sion, about 5 km from the EPFL Valais campus. The carbon capture skid will extract flue gas from the Enevi chimney, purifying carbon dioxide and storing it in liquid form at the rate of 1 tonCO2/day. This will then be supplied to a highly energy-efficient CO2 to CH4 conversion process, leading to conversion into green methane.

Gaznat/Solydera: In collaboration with GAZNAT and Solydera, we are validating a highly innovative 100 kW solid-oxide electrolyzer for energy-efficient production of hydrogen from steam. The produced hydrogen will be supplied to a methanator, where carbon dioxide will be converted into methane. Another project at GAZNAT Innovation lab at Aigle is running a long-term performance evolution of porous graphene membranes in separating flue gas from combined heat & power (CHP).

Divea: Divea is an EPFL spinoff engaged in the scale-up and commercialization of high-performance graphene membranes, with plans to build a full-scale carbon capture plant by the year 2032.
